The Ultimate Yoga Teacher Training Packing List – What Everyone Forgets to Bring!
When you're preparing for a life-changing experience like a yoga teacher training, packing might seem like a small detail—but trust us, it's not.
At Moola Yoga, we've welcomed students from around the world, and we’ve seen it all—overpackers and under-packers.
So we created this ultimate yoga teacher training packing guide to help you avoid rookie mistakes and show up confident, comfortable, and totally ready to embrace the yogic lifestyle.
✅ Essentials You Must Pack for Your YTTC
These are your can’t-live-without items—whether you’re doing a 200-hour YTTC or 100 Hour YTTC:
1. Yoga Clothes
Bring at least 5–6 pairs of breathable, sweat-friendly yoga outfits.
Include lightweight cotton clothes for non-asana classes, like philosophy or meditation.
2. A Good Yoga Mat
At Moola Yoga we DO provide Yoga mats but if you have slippery palms (& your mats designed for this) or you just feel more comfortable with your own mat, it can be a game changer because you’ll be on your mat ALOT!
Durable, non-slip, and travel-friendly if you can.
Pro tip: A yoga towel can double as a mat cover for hot days- helps with those slippery palms!
3. Refillable Water Bottle
Preferably stainless steel or BPA-free. Staying hydrated is key!
4. Toiletries
Shampoo/soap, deodorant, toothbrush, menstrual products (you may not find your favourite brands locally).
Sunscreen and a solid mosquito repellent are absolute musts in Rishikesh! - Close to Moola Yoga, here in Rishikesh it’s easy to pick up these things so you can always shop here!
5. Modest Swimwear
Useful for weekend dips in the Ganga or waterfall adventures nearby. Many opt for bicycle shorts and crop top to feel more comfortable in the modest surroundings.
What Everyone Forgets to Bring (But Shouldn’t!)
You won’t see these on every packing list—but these are the items that past students at Moola Yoga swear by.
1. Slip-On Shoes or Sandals
You’ll be taking your shoes off a lot—in classrooms, temples, even some cafés.
2. Earplugs + Eye Mask
Whether it's your roommate snoring or morning bells from nearby ashrams, peaceful sleep is precious.
3. Small Daypack or Crossbody Bag
For short hikes, trips to the market, or walking to the Ganges. At Moola Yoga we provide you with your very own tote bag, so if you’re a tote kind of person, no need to pack anything else 😉.
5. First Aid Kit + Natural Remedies
Basics like bandaids, activated charcoal, ginger chews, and probiotics go a long way. At Moola Yoga we offer an excursion which requires 45 minute long rides on mountain roads, so if you get travel sick, bring some tablets!
6. Passport Photos + Copies of Important Documents
Needed for local SIM cards, train tickets, or government forms.
7. Travel Blanket or Shawl
Works for Savasana, chilly mornings, temple visits, and meditation time.
