How to prepare for your YTTC

Starting Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) is an exciting journey of self-discovery and growth. To get the most out of this experience, preparation is key. Here’s a quick guide to help you get ready.

Regular Practice:

Start practicing yoga regularly to develop strength, flexibility, and familiarity with asanas. Begin with 3-4 times per week and build up slowly to make a consistent, sustainable routine.

Learn the Foundations:

Get familiar with basic poses, practice them and get to know their name in English and Sanskrit. This way you’ll feel more comfortable and knowledgeable when you’re in class and recognise names.

Look After And Prepare Your Body:

Eat nourishing foods, stay hydrated, and get enough sleep to maintain energy and prepare your body for the Yogic diet and active lifestyle you’re about to participate in.

Set Your Intention:

Reflect on your intention for wanting to do your YTTC to stay motivated and committed for your practiced. This will help on those days when you want to skip your practice!

Read:

Read key Yoga texts to gain some familiarity and understanding. Whilst this isn’t essential for your YTTC, it will help you feel more confident as you’ll be familiar with some key concepts, it will also help you to go deeper in your training as you will have a base of understanding and can build upon it with questions and discussions.

Sun Salutations:

Learn the different Sun Salutations, they’re something you’ll most probably practice daily in your YTTC Asana classes.
